Fraud - The new F-Word - Studio 220 @ NOMA A - 2nd Floor

Jim Stickley has been hacking financial institutions for years but with his new company, Stickley on Security, he is looking at things in a whole new way and will be sharing this new perspective with all of us. From cyber-attacks to social engineering, criminals are waging war against corporations, financial institutions and even government agencies and while everyone wants to think they are secure, the reality is that criminals are winning. In this session Stickley will address the two biggest issues facing credit unions today. First, he will demonstrate how criminals are gaining access to your network and then remaining invisible to the most sophisticated intrusion detection solutions while systematically moving from one server to another, ultimately committing fraud without ever being detected. For the first time ever, Stickley will walk step by step through a complete network breach leading to a very amazing conclusion. Second, Stickley will address the rising cost of fraud that your credit union is facing due to compromised members and what you credit union can and should be doing to address the issue.

Balancing the Conflicting Priorities In Tech Spending to Maximize Value for Members

According to a 2014 CUNA survey, IT budgets in credit unions are increasing; 50% report an increase in 2014 and two-thirds anticipate growth over the next two years (CUNA 2014 Technology Spending Survey). Members want more services, greater convenience, and increased personal attention. This puts pressure on credit unions to make strategic investments in additional member-facing technology, but it also creates challenges integrating new technology with legacy systems, choosing between competing IT priorities, and balancing investment in back-office systems versus retail systems. Boosting employee productivity by replacing legacy document imaging and payment systems immediately frees time and resources that can best be spent on members. This session will examine several credit union case studies to illustrate the real-world benefits of making significant, measurable improvements in member service and response times, system uptime, and disjointed workflows. In each case, we will explore the ways that credit unions can recover time and resources to fuel meaningful member-related improvements. Learn how to strengthen processes and eliminate waste to avoid increasing operational costs to keep pace with member growth.

ARCU: Tips, Tricks, and Useful Features

ARCU has been implemented by many Symitar customers and continues to grow in adoption by the Symitar client base. Several releases have been delivered since the initial launch of the product a few years ago. Staff transition at credit unions as well as numerous product enhancements can result in many powerful and valuable features being available yet not be widely understood by the user community. This session will focus on illustrating some of these features as well as discuss stories of how other Symitar customers are utilizing ARCU for strategic and tactical purposes within their organization. This session is intended for credit unions that have or are considering purchasing ARCU for their credit union.

Technology Happens
 Member Vantage Point (MVP)

Member Vantage Point (MVP) provides credit unions the most intuitive way to capture signatures and selectively share digital content with its members.

Developed by Technology Happens, MVP is an integrated hardware/software solution that includes a small (4.7” x 4.7” x 2.2”) hardware device and a high resolution multi-touch display, which are connected to a credit union representative’s workstation.

When a document or receipt is ready to sign, a member services representative, teller or loan officer can stream the entire document onto a large touchscreen display for the member to review. After review, the member can sign the document directly via the touchscreen. The signature is captured and bound securely to the document.

Between transactions, digital marketing materials can be streamed to the member-facing display, giving credit unions a dynamic space to promote highly localized messaging to its members. See it in action here:

Alternatives to Apple Pay: A Mobile Payment Pilot Study and Demonstration

Apple Pay mobile payments have taken the country by storm, however, it is difficult for small credit unions to benefit from it. Alternatives to Apple Pay such as MShift’s AnyWhereMobile which is focused on small financial institutions, can allow credit unions to maintain their relevance and profit from the mobile payment revolution.

Only 6% of the plastic general payment cards of small, exempt financial institutions are pre-loaded into iTunes. In addition, Apple Pay imposes additional fees on top of existing Visa and MasterCard fees such as setup fees, monthly tokenization vault fees, activation fees, and deactivation fees thereby cutting into credit unions’ bottom line. The more ubiquitous Apple Pay becomes, the less relevant small financial institutions will be.

As a result, Apple Pay incentivizes small financial institutions to adopt alternative forms of mobile payments that let them maintain their margins, such as MShift’s Symitar-compatible AnyWhereMobile. With AnyWhereMobile, small credit unions and banks will be empowered to turn around the declining trend of their net interchange income, to offer local merchants a reduction in interchange rates and to provide their members more generous merchantbased rewards.

This presentation provides a demonstration of MShift’s AnyWhereMobile payment technology and a case study of a Symitar Credit Union’s experience with the AnyWhereMobile pilot program.

10:20 - 11:05 am Adapt Telephony - Adapt Smart Applications for Credit Unions

Adapt has been building applications for credit unions to solve CU business issues for over 10 years. With 120 credit union customers to date, we have frequently heard about your pain points and have worked extensively with our CU customers to develop Smart Applications that are effective solutions to those problems. The “Smart Suite” of applications we have developed will enhance the member experience, make the CU team more efficient and provide you with the ability to easily scale the services you provide to your members and employees year over year.

Through real-time integration to Symitar using SymConnect we are able to do everything from taking calls off the front-end contact center by providing quick account inquiry information, shorten agent calls through authenticated screen pops, route past due members directly to the collections team, provide VIP member routing using relationship codes, and route members back to the agent they spoke with last. We also provide a simple tool for rate management, Cross-Selling, bank-by-phone IVR solutions and much, much more.

Adapt has been a Symitar VIP partner for approximately 8 years and became a Symitar strategic business partner in February 2014. Come hear about and see how many of our Symitar credit unions are using these applications to make a big impact for their members and with their member-facing teams. Our session will also include a sneak preview of other CU applications currently in development…you won’t want to miss it.
